Lot Description

A mid 19th century American 'Mayer's Real Ironstone' pottery punch bowl, the interior printed and colour tinted with cavorting Bacchantes and a satyr at a drunken party, within vine border, the exterior similarly decorated with processions of revellers, on three moulded dolphin supports, seashells and coral, printed mark with address 'Office 86 Pearl Street, New York, Prize medal 1851' beneath, 16" diameter x 8.25" high, (40.5cm x 21cm), (S/D). Together with an unusual Egyptian-style terracotta studio pottery vase, the shouldered tapering body incised with 'hieroglyphics', monogrammed beneath BT or TB, incised number 439 and indistinct stamp to base, 7.75" (19.5cm) high.
