Lot Description

A Victorian silver trinket box of oval embossed form, hallmarked Birmingham 1896, length measuring 3 inches (8 cm). Together with an early twentieth century silver jewellery box of plain oblong form with canted corners and material lined interior, hallmarked James Deakin & Sons (John & William F Deakin), Birmingham 1914, length measuring 2 3/4 inches (7 cm). (2).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Wear and loss of detail to the embossing, minor splits visible to the high embossing on the lid. The early 20th century example has significant holes and damage to the corners along with numerous dints across the body. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
