Lot 667

Lot Description

An early twentieth century novelty silver vesta case, of plain oval form with engraved monogram to the front, with a slightly taller cylindrical section to one side having a flat hinged lid with a bayonet style fitting, striking section to the underside. Hallmarked E F Braham Ltd (Edward Foligne Braham), Birmingham, date letter very worn. Maximum height measures 6.6 cm, gross weight 28.3 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The vesta case displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Some heavy tarnishing is visible and it would benefit from a clean and polish. Several deeper scratches and nicks, also some surface dints, mainly to the reverse. Heavier wear around edges. The locking mechanism to the hinged lid appears in working order. Date letter is very worn, some rubbing and distortion to the other hallmarks and maker's marks but they are still legible.
