Lot Description

Great War casualty pair, British War Medal 1914-5, Victory Medal named to ' 20603 Pte. H. McHale. R. W. Fus.', with Memorial Plaque named to 'Harry McHale', together with a family Great War Pair named to '128591 Dvr. H. J. McHale. R.A.', an associated 1914-15 Star named to '1295 Pte. A. Reid, Worc. R.', Order of St John breast badge, miniature and lapel badge and small quantity of miscellaneous coins. (Lot).


'20603 A/Sjt. H. McHale 14th Bn.', was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in July 1916. 'For conspicuous gallantry during a raid on the enemy's trenches. He and his officer were the first into the trench, where they accounted for several of the enemy. He showed great determination later in covering the retreat, and finally assisted in bringing in two wounded men.'


Henry McHale is listed as being killed in action on the 18th September 1918 in France and Flanders.
