Lot Description

A nineteenth century Russian silver-gilt condiment spoon modelled as a shovel with initialled terminal. Russian assay marks for 1868, Moscow alongside Cyrillic maker's mark. Length measuring 8.2 cm, weight 5.6 grams.

The spoon displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor surface dints and bumps. Considerable wear to the gilding to some areas, especially around edges and there is a horizontal patch to the terminal. Assay marks to bowl and terminal reverse, some slight distortion but mainly legible.
