Lot Description

A mid 19th century silver gem-set brooch.  Designed as a vase of flowers set with rose-cut and single-cut diamonds to the central oval-shape topaz. Length 3cms. Weight 4.9gms.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The condition of this lot is fair, with wear to the metal in keeping with age and wear. The central topaz has wear to the edges of the table facet and some residue visible through the reverse of the gem. Accumulated dirt around the diamonds gives them a dull appearance, making it difficult to determine their clarity and colour. The pin appears to have been added at a later time, and the brooch may previously have had a pendant attachment.
