Lot Description

A French silver-gilt cased set comprising twelve grapefruit or fruit spoons, a pair of sugar nips, a small dish and a shell bowl preserve spoon, French assay marks including Minerva and a maker's mark. Together with a cased set of twelve German coffee spoons, each struck 800 alongside the crescent moon and crown mark, maker possibly Koch & Bergfeld, and various continental serving forks, spoons, pierced fish slices, etc. Weighable silver 10.83 ozt (336.8 grams).

In mixed state, all pieces in the lot displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use, and to varying degrees. Some heavy tarnishing to some pieces. The spoon bowls in the cased sets appear to have faired quite well. Some dints and bumps to a couple of the bowls in the French silver-gilt set. Also some wear, discolouration and fading to the gilding. Heavier wear and damage to some of the serving implements.
