Lot Description

An early 19th century tortoiseshell tea caddy, of slight bow-fronted form having panel veneered exterior, the hinged cover with engraved cartouche opening to reveal dual compartments each having further tortoiseshell covers, the whole raised upon four ball feet, 7" x 4" x 6" high (18 cm x 10 cm x 15.25 cm).

Appears in overall fair condition commensurate with age. Small  area of damage to tortoiseshell near lower front edge, and with other small knocks, bumps and marks to exterior. Hinge in good order although slight distortion to lock pins and with no key. Interior lining worn and with losses.
