Lot Description

A good Japanese Meiji period inlaid ivory okimono, modelled as a courtly lady, with mother of pearl hair ornament, necklace, chatelaine and shells to her gown, holding a looking glass, an attendant seated at her feet, his tunic also applied with abalone shell motifs, a box tucked under his left arm, the base with rectangular three character seal mark amidst incised prunus, 9" (23cm) high.

Both hands reattached at wrists, kneeling figure is missing item he was once holding, two 'jewels' missing to back of dress plus one missing to front, some relatively minor age cracking, crack to top of dead, possibly two small plugs to stabilise.
