Lot Description

A mid 19th century gold gem-set bird brooch. Designed as a floral embossed bird in flight, with green gem accents and ruby eye, suspending a padlock and key from its beak. Length 3.4cms. Weight 4.6gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.


<li>Base metal replacement fittings, slight discolouration visible.

<li>Green gems replacements, ill-fitting to mounts. Mounts with damage.


<li>Ruby is in a closed back setting, presumed foil back, appears a slightly purplish red hue.

<li>Green gems with moderate abrasion.
