Lot Description

A turn-of-the-century Hanau silver basket, of lobed square outline having central scene of three cherubs beside a basket of fruit, within a wide lozenge and florally pierced border quartered by portrait plaques within wreath and ribbon surrounds. Marks for Karl Kurz, Kesselstadt, and with import marks for Singleton, Benda & Co., London 1902. Maximum length measures 8 5/8 inches (22 cm), weight 10.64 ozt (330.9 grams).

The basket appears in overall fair condition displaying light surface wear, rubbing and scratching commensurate with age and use. Rubbing causing slight loss of definition to engraved and embossed decoration. Hanau marks partly worn but still legible, British hallmarks are clear and legible.
