Lot Description

Two early Victorian memorial brooches. The first of rectangular outline, the black enamel with gold-tone surround, overlaid with a border of split pearls and a flower design set with split pearl petals, to the oval-shape glazed woven hair panel, together with another brooch of similar, marquise-shape design, both with personal inscriptions to the reverse. Lengths 3.7cms. Weight 27.3gms.

The condition of this lot is fair, with surface marks to the enamel and metal in keeping with age and wear. Inscriptions read 'In memory of Ann Augusta Thresher Obt 15th Nov 1845 at 77' and 'In Memory of Sarah Tomlinson, died May 5 1846, Aged 72'.
