Lot Description

A mid Victorian gold gem-set brooch. The oval-shape citrine, within split pearl and emerald surrounds. May be worn as a brooch. One emerald deficient. Length 4.1cms. Weight 20.7gms.

<li>Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>One emerald deficient.

<li>Rope-twist surmount loop is a later addition, with soft solder discolouration visible, enabling brooch to be worn as a pendant.


<li>Replacement gems. Wear to some claws/mounts.

<li>Citrine is slightly loose within the mount. Citrine is a light medioum slightly brownish yellow hue, fair saturation.

<li>Split pearls fairly well matched. Some with visible drill holes. Varied colour and lustre.

<li>Emeralds are presumed foil back, appear a light to medium slightly bluish green to yellowish green, varied saturation and inclusions.
