Lot Description

A late Victorian, gold peridot and gem-set insect brooch. The pear-shape peridot body, with old-cut diamond thorax, ruby eyes and rose-cut diamond highlight legs. Estimated dimensions of peridot 24 by 17.3 by 10.7mms. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.40ct. Length 3.4cms. Weight 12.8gms.

<li>Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, minor discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.


<li>Replacement clasp.


<li>Diamonds well matched.


<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>


<li>Rubies with wear to the mounts, possible replacement gems. Rubies are well matched medium red hue.

<li>Peridot dimensions are estimations, the length is a best guess based on limited visibility.

<li>Peridot is a deep medium yellowy green hue. One eye visible inclusion toward the centre of the gem.

<li>Peridot with moderate facet edge abrasion and minor nicks.
