Lot Description

A Victorian silver mug, the baluster form florally embossed and surrounding an engraved cartouche, hallmarked Daniel & Charles Houle, London 1864, height measuring 4 3/4 inches (12 cm). Together with a late George II silver cream jug, crested, hallmarked London 1758, the maker possibly Samuel Meriton I, height measuring 4 inches (10 cm). Gross weight 9.7 ozt (304 grams). (2).

In fair to poor condition. Both with general scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Heavy tarnishing. The mug has had an engraving removed from the cartouche and engraved again at a later date. Mug also with dents to the foot, also compressed into the body and wobbles. Cream jug also dented to underside with one foot also compressed into the body. Hallmarks and maker's marks somewhat rubbed but legible.
