Lot Description
A George III silver meat dish by Paul Storr, of oval form with applied gadrooned border and engraved armorial. Hallmarked Paul Storr, London 1793. Maximum length measuring 18 1/2 inches (47 cm), weight 48.9 ozt (1522 grams).
Engraved with the arms of DUFF impaling MANNERS for the marriage in 1799 of JAMES DUFF (b.1776) to Lady MARY CAROLINE MANNERS (b. 1775). In 1811 James Duff became the 4th Earl of Fife. The Earl of Fife distinguished himself in the Peninsular War. Having volunteered his service he reached the rank of Major General and was created Knight of the Order of St Patrick in 1827.

Condition Report
The dish displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Many knife marks to the main surface from use. Minor dints and bumps. Painted film appears over the crest which has yellowed, this looks as though it could be easily polished off. Hallmarks clear and legible.
