Lot Description

A nineteenth century American teapot, the octagonal sided and tapering form florally engraved throughout, with domed and hinged lid and foliate capped handle and spout. Impressed mark for Ball, Tompkins & Black (New York, circa 1839-1851) with makers mark W. F, probably for William Garrett Forbes. Maximum height inclusive of finial measuring 8 1/8 inches (20.5 cm), weight 30.64 ozt (953 grams).

The teapot appears in good overall condition. Displaying some expected general wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches. A few minor dints and surface dints to edges and corners. Heavy staining to interior. Hinged lid appears in good working order. Impressed marks to underside are clear and legible.
