Lot Description

A late Victorian gold, enamel and gem-set bee brooch. The striped black enamel and old-cut diamond bee, atop a seed pearl terminal pin. Estimated total diamond weight 0.45ct, H-I colour, SI clarity. Length 5.6cms. Weight 4gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Two of the bees legs with losses.

<li>Diamonds well matched.

<li>Principal diamonds with small, scattered inclusions, one with small nick and associated abrasion.

<li>Individual size and setting of smaller diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>

<li>Enamel with some deep scratches and nicks.

<li>Length of bee 1.5cms.

<li>Cultured pearl shows slight discolouration.

<li>Later safety clasp added.
