Lot Description

A good late 18th/early 19th century carved rootwood pipe. Probably South German, of Ulmer type, modelled with two figures, possibly monks with hooded habits, seated at a table, a stylised lion and a group of five miniature figures beneath, the whole with fine patina, the pipe bowl with brass cover, 4.25", (11cm) long, to a mother-of-pearl mounted horn stem with decorative frilled facetted ball ornaments, and knotted mouthpiece, approximately 14", (35.5cm) long overall.
