A mid 19th century mahogany-cased 8-day painted dial longcase clock.
Henry Leadbeater, Congleton,
Having a 14-inch break-arched Roman dial with subsidiary seconds and terrestrial calendar dials, signed H. LEADBEATER CONGLETON, the arch with rolling moon phase wheel and lunar calendar over vacant terrestrial spheres, the spandrels painted with camels and elephants representing Africa, the knopped four-pillar movement with anonymous false-plate, rack-striking on a bell, the case with swan-neck pediment having moulded scrolls over turned columns and moulded good door, the short trunk door with bead and reel-edged oval panel on canted base and ogee bracket feet, 94", (239cm) high.

Condition Report
Dial - light staining, minor scuffs; blemish to calendar dial.
Movement appears sound, not tested.
Case - small losses to pediment (left hand disc and centre); cracks to hood door frame, trunk columns missing, small veneer loss to trunk door, cracks to trunk beside lower door hinge, wide vertical crack to base panel.
Sold with two weights and pendulum.
