Lot Description
A late Victorian silver dish, the oval pierced form with embossed flowers and scrolls leading to a fluted shell bowl, the whole raised upon a shaped oval foot, hallmarked George Wish, Sheffield 1894, length measures 5 3/8 inches (13.8 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver cigarette case, of oblong form with engraved scroll decoration surrounding a monogrammed cartouche, hallmarked E H Lawley & Sons Ltd., Birmingham 1909, a miniature silver bud vase, hallmarked Sheffield 1926 and two 1920's miniature silver twin-handled trophies with personal inscriptions. Condition Report
In varied condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Remnant of polish visible on the silver dish, some minor bends to the foot. The fixture pin of the cigarette case sticks out at the top, the case shuts fully flush, dirt residue to the interior with one of the material elastic bands missing, the other sewn up, some smart water marks visible to the case. The base of the miniature bud vase is slightly misshapen, remnant of polish visible, appears slightly off centre. One of the trophies is engraved 'Bath Photo. Soc 1926 C. Howe Landscape & C', the other is engraved ' R. N. Meredith 3rd Place Mothers & Sons 26-8-30'. Hallmarks rubbed and worn but still just legible.
