Lot Description

An Edwardian silver novelty pepper modelled in the form of a Welsh hat, the circular base with applied ribbon decoration and engraved 'H' initial, leading to a detachable pierced lid, hallmarked Vaughton & Sons, Birmingham 1908, height measuring 3.5 cm. Together with two continental novelty cocktail sticks, with fish and swallow terminals, probably French assay marks, length measuring 8 cm. Gross weight 31.5 grams. (3).

Total lot weight: No

The pepper appears in fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Remnants of polish visible. The circular base ever so slightly does not sit flat, significant discolouration and spotting visible to the top of the base, probably needs professional polish to remove. Some creases to the inner rim of the pepper. Hallmarks clear and legible, no partial marks to the detachable lid.
