Lot 260

Lot Description

A Chinese export silver miniature figure of a junk ship, the three sails with crosshatch decoration, maker's mark for Wang Hing & Co (circa 1854-1925), length measuring 7 cm. Together with a further miniature figure modelled with a man standing on and operating a handcar, character mark to the base alongside number 85, length measuring 4.5 cm. Gross weight 49.2 grams. (2).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both figures are heavily tarnished, especially the junk, and would benefit from a clean and polish. General surface marks and scratches to both and slight knocks to some of the more delicate parts. On the handcar, the bar the man is holding is now at a slant and one hand is no longer fixed to it. Further knocks and dints to the other parts. The see-saw action of the walking beam appears in working order. Maker's mark to junk is a little rubbed but still legible, there is a further distorted character mark. The marks to handcar are clearly legible.
