Lot Description

A child's continental novelty money box modelled as a small tankard, the slightly tapering form having vacant oval cartouche within engraved Greek-key border, with foliate scroll handle and domed lid with hinged clasp. Maximum height measuring 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm), gross weight 2.17 ozt (67.5 grams).

The money box appears in a fairly tired and worn condition, displaying some tarnishing and many surface marks, scratches and small dints and bumps. Knocks to foot rim. Some damage and repairs to the hinged clasp and it doesn't fit very well onto the wire loop on the main body. Also some visible solder around the joins of the loop to main body. Some splits in the metal of the handle. Appears unmarked. Tests as 83% to 85% silver.
