Lot Description

A George IV silver chamberstick, the rectangular base with canted corners and gadrooned rim interspersed with floral and foliate motifs, the centre rising to a vase shape socket and a removable nozzle with conforming border, serpentine handle to one side with shell thumb rest. Hallmarked Thomas & John Settle, Sheffield 1821. With plated conical extinguisher and pair of snuffers. Length of base measuring 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm), silver weight 9.74 ozt (303 grams).

Postage: Postable

Total lot weight: No

The chamberstick displays general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Some of the scratches are quite deep, especially some visible to the nozzle. There is quite heavy tarnishing to some areas and it would benefit from a clean and polish. Several minor surface dints and nicks and some visible holes in the decoration of the rim. Hallmarks and maker's marks are a little rubbed but still legible. Wear to the plating on both the extinguisher and snuffers.
