Lot Description

A good late 19th century pate-sur-pate plaque by Arthur Morgan. Possibly for Minton, the rectangular field decorated with two figures, one seated, the other flying in diaphanous veil, over a frieze with quote from Percy Bysshe Shelley's 'The Revolt of Islam': "A shape of speechless beauty did appear / Like the bright shade of some immortal dream", signed A. Morgan lower right, 5" x 7.7", (13cm x 19.5cm), in gilt slip and pierced gilt frame.

Arthur Morgan was a pupil of Louis Solon at Minton from circa 1877, and later worked for Doulton.
