Lot Description

An early 19th century mahogany-cased 8-day painted dial longcase clock. Thomas Whitehead. Wetherby, The 13-inch Arabic dial with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar crescent, signed 'Thos. Whitehead WETHERBY' within spandrels painted with various buildings and a bridge, the arch with a shipping scene, the knopped four-pillar movement with false plate, rack-striking on a bell, the break-arched case over turned columns, the long trunk door over fluted canted corners on plain base and bracket feet, 90.5", (230cm) high.

Movement - appears sound; not tested. sold as seen. Sold with two weights, pendulum, key and winder.
Case - Later final. Tight crack to trunk over door. One cavetto side moulding held on with tape. Patch plus veneer losses to base.
