Lot Description

A 1940's five piece silver tea service, comprising teapot, hot water pot, twin-handled sugar basin, cream jug and salver, each of plain octagonal-sided form, the tea and hot water pots with pale wood handles and finials to hinged lids, the salver raised on four stylised paw feet with personal presentation engraving verso. Hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd., Sheffield 1947. Length of tray measuring 14 inches (35.5 cm), height of hot water pot measuring 8 inches (20.2 cm), gross weight 116 ozt (3608 grams).

All pieces appear in good overall condition, displaying some general expected tarnishing, surface wear, marks and scratches. Some heavier scratches, contact marks and surface nicks to centre of salver. Hinged lids appear in good working order. Hallmarks and part hallmarks are clear and legible, also with impressed maker's name. The salver is housed in a wooden box.
