Lot Description

A George III silver swing-handled sugar bowl and matching cream jug, each of oval form with fluted corners, dual cartouche, one crested, niche engraved borders and reeded rims. Hallmarked Peter & Ann Bateman, London 1799. Height of sugar basket measuring 5 inches (12.5 cm), gross weight 13.7 ozt (427 grams).

Condition Report

The sugar and cream display general scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Heavy tarnishing to the interior. Visible solder repairs to the underside of the sugar. Interiors originally gilded, this has now worn. Repair to handle on cream jug. Hallmarks somewhat worn to the cream jug.
