A late Victorian 18ct gold gem-set snake brooch. Designed as two snakes, with cushion-shape ruby or sapphire crest and ruby eyes, with seed pearl highlight. Length 2.9cms. Weight 5.6gms.

<li>Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Small fissure to the metal near one of the tails.
<li>Brooch fittings possible replacements, slight discolouration.
<li>Clasp with French assay marks.
<li>Some replacement gems.
<li>Glue visible to seed pearl mount. Seed pearl untested for natural origin.
<li>Gems in closed back settings, presumed foil back.
<li>Principal ruby appears a deep meidum red hue.
<li>Sapphire appears a deep medium blue hue.
