Lot 152

Lot Description

An Edwardian pair of silver mounted candlesticks, the weighted square bases with husk swags enclosing rosette motifs within beaded borders, leading to a similarly decorated column and urn shaped socket with removable circular nozzle. Hallmarked Birmingham 1901, maker's mark obscured. Height measuring 14 7/8 inches (37.9 cm).

Postage: Not Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Significant dent to the corner of one of the bases. Loss of definition to the decoration throughout. Splits are appearing around the bottom of the stem on one candlesticks, seems like a weak point when the candlesticks are picked up, the other candlestick has visible repairs around this area with some crude floods of solder. Hardened residue to the interior of the sockets. Both pieces would benefit from a clean and polish. Maker's mark obscured, other hallmarks rubbed but still just legible, partial hallmarks to the nozzles.
