Lot 411

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver mounted scent bottle, of heart shaped form and embossed in low relief with cherubs amongst floral, foliate and scroll motifs, the hinged globular lid with looping clasp, opening to reveal a glass stopper. Hallmarked William Comyns & Sons, London 1899. Length measuring 3 2/8 inches (8.5 cm).

Postage: Not Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In overall fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Noticeable loss of definition to the embossed decoration. The globular lid is creased and dented to the top. Possible signs of repair around the construction seams either side of the lid. Minor chips/nibbles to the glass stopper, possible replacement. Minor bump along the rim at the point. Would benefit from a clean and polish. Main maker's mark partly obscured but still legible, other hallmarks clear, partial hallmarks to various sections.
