Lot 100

Lot Description

A French silver chocolate pot, the plain bellied form with engraved crest, the hinged lid with foliate bud finial, leading to an ebonised wood handle with flower-head mount, the spout with applied garland detail. Marked with the Minerva standard guarantee mark alongside a maker's mark, probably Debain & Flament, Paris (1874-1880). Height measuring 5 5/8 inches (14.5 cm), weight 8.3 ozt (258.2 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Remnants of polish in between the decoration, would benefit from a clean. Heavier tarnishing to the interior. The hinged lid does not sit well and needs to be pushed down to sit flush. Minerva standard guarantee mark clear, possibly equivalent to the lid which is indistinct, maker's mark beneath the base is slightly obscured but just about legible.
