Lot 343

Lot Description

A novelty silver stamp moistener, modelled as a scroll decorated in relief with central ribbon and the face of David Lloyd George to the pull-off cover, raised on a pair of feet to a circular base with an applied gilt seal. Hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1912. Height measuring 3 inches (7.5 cm), gross weight 2.74 ozt (85.2 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The item displays some tarnishing and general surface wear, nicks, marks and scratches. A few dints and knocks are also visible. The pull-off lid appears a good fit. There are some drilled holes to the top of the lid in a circle. Slight loss of surface detail to raised decoration but generally still good. Hallmarks around the base are very rubbed and worn, part hallmarks to the lid are slightly rubbed but more clearly legible. Also a rubbed registration number to base, possibly reads 603837. The seal base is likely later applied and appears unmarked.
