With a printed ticket signed by Dr Frank Mitchell, a doyen of South African numismatics, that this coin was recovered in October 1965 from the wreck of the "Fame", which foundered on rocks at Table Bay, South Africa, on 14th June 1822. <p>
This lot is part of a private collection of quality coins 'The Property of a Gentleman', assembled over a forty year period by father and son (Lot 449-479).
