South Africa, Natal, Edward VII, Coronation 1902, silver medal by Joseph & Sons (Port Elizabeth), crowned bust right, rev. two wildebeest below royal arms, 29mm, with suspension loop (WE 4325 A1). Extremely fine or better. <p>
The 29mm medals were given to all schoolchildren in Government schools. Larger (51mm) medals were presented to Zulu chiefs in appreciation of their support during the Second Boer War.<p>
This lot is part of a private collection of quality coins 'The Property of a Gentleman', assembled over a forty year period by father and son (Lot 449-479).
