Lot Description

An early 20th century gold diamond, enamel and gem-set brooch. The old-cut diamond crown, with rose-cut diamond, ruby and demantoid garnet accents, to the enamel rose, shamrock and thistle wreath. Estimated total diamond weight 0.20ct. Length 3.7cms. Weight 11.9gms.

This brooch is believed to have been made to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII. For a similar example please see Bennett, D. & Mascetti, D, 1994. Understanding Jewellery. 4th ed. England: Antique Collectors' Club Ltd., plate 470, p.263.
