Lot Description

A late Victorian 18ct gold split pearl and diamond brooch. The vari-cut diamond quatrefoil and split pearl trefoil sides, with floral cannetille accents. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1897. Length 4.8cms. Weight 10.6gms.

<li>Overall condition good. Surface scratches/wear and discoloration in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Circular loop and pin probable replacements.

<li>Diamonds fairly well matched and fairly bright.<p>

<li>Diamonds have minor, scattered inclusions, visible under 10x.

<li>Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.<p>

<li>Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight, colour or clarity estimation.

<li>Individual size and setting of diamond prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>

<li>Cultured pearls well matched, with good lustre.

<li>Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these split pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
