Lot 17

Lot Description

A French silver mounted Daum glass spirit bottle or flask, the frosted and tinted green glass body of slightly tapering form with acid-etched motifs of trailing mistletoe, the collar mount, removable cup and screw thread lid having wrythen decoration, French silver guarantee marks to the cup and lid, cup bearing maker's mark, and base of glass signed in gilt Daum Nancy, 5.75" (14.5 cm) long.

Postage: Not Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The lot displays general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Many surface nicks and nibbles to the glass including around the neck rim. It is likely that the mistletoe branches and leaves were originally gilded and the berries enamelled, as slight traces of both remain. Tarnishing to the metal mounts. The lid displays a few dints and bumps. With cork interior. Further minor dints to the cup, mainly around the base rim. Both lid and cup appear to be a good fit, although the cup is quite a loose fit and comes off very easily. The cup with Minerva guarantee mark and a maker's mark M V? Both rubbed but clearly legible. The lid with single mark only, quite worn but appears to be the Boar guarantee mark.
