Lot Description

A Victorian silver scent bottle, of cylindrical form with engraved foliate detail to the whole, the hinged cover opening to reveal a glass lined interior with glass stopper, maker's mark rubbed and indistinct, hallmarks worn, probably Birmingham 1884, height 2 inches (5cm). Together with two silver vesta cases, the first example of rectangular form and hallmarked Birmingham 1897, maker's marks rubbed and indistinct, the second example of oval form and hallmarked Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1897, plus two continental strikers, each with struck marks to base. In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Scent bottle hallmarks worn, gilded interior worn, and glass stopper with cracks.

Hallmarks to both vestas worn, and rectangular example heavily dented and misshapen.

Strikers test around 90.24% and 89.78%. Marks to strikers worn.
