Lot 863

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver mounted large rectangular mirror, the bevel-edged glass plate within applied silver gadroon border interspersed with floral and scroll motifs, with material lined easel back. Hallmarked William Comyns & Sons, London 1895. Height measuring 16 inches (40.5 cm).

Postage: Not Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Displaying general surface wear, marks and scratches throughout and some tarnishing to the silver mounts, commensurate with the age and use. A few minor surface dints to the silver mount and lifting slightly in places. Break in the metal to one of the lower corners, around the scroll motif. Further loss of a flower motif to the lower centre. Mirror plate appears in good order. The velvet lining to the reverse is very heavily worn, faded and threadbare in places with some losses and fraying around edges. The easel support is strong so the mirror stands upright firmly. Hallmarked along the lower mount and these are clear and legible.
