Lot Description

A George III silver mug, the slightly tapering form to a flat base, with an upper and lower band of reeded decoration and a stylised scroll handle. Hallmarked London 1811, maker's mark partly worn, possibly J.B and similar to a mark for Joseph Beckwith (Grimwade page 132). Height 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm), weight 9.69 ozt (301.3 grams).

With some quite heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish. Displaying general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Visible seam line with possible repairs, patches visible to the interior. Slight impression visible to the interior around the join of the base of handle to main body. Hallmarks located just below the rim, slightly rubbed but legible, maker's mark slightly distorted.
