Lot Description

An early George V Britannia silver tankard, the plain slightly tapering form with stepped flat-top hinged lid to a scrolled thumb-piece and serpentine handle. Hallmarked C S Harris & Sons Ltd., London 1914. Height including thumb-piece 6 3/8 inches (16.2 cm), weight 26.9 ozt (839 grams).

Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A couple of slight surface dints. Visible seam line to interior. Hinged lid appears in good working order, slight sideways movement. Residues of polish. Hallmarks located below the rim with part marks repeated to flange of lid. Rubbed but still clearly legible, maker's mark with heavier rubbing.
