An early 19th century military sword, with gilt brass hilt and chequered ivory panel grip, the curved blade with engraved decoration, with leather scabbard, the upper brass band inscribed R Johnston Late Bland & Foster Sword Cutler & Belt Maker to his Majesty 68 St James Str London, sword 37" (94cm) long.

Condition Report
Blade is heavily rusted, pitted and worn, with knocks and small losses along edges. Gilt metal hilt also heavily worn, pitted and scratched. Ivory panel handle has cracks, splits and losses. Top band to scabbard is damaged, with some distortion to shape, engraving worn. Band to bottom in similar poor condition. Leather scabbard is heavily worn with damage, splits and losses.
