Lot Description

A cased mid-Victorian silver set of four open salts and spoons, each floral embossed circular salt with beaded rim, gilt interior and raised on four stepped hoof feet, salt spoons also with bead border, hallmarked Thomas Smily, London 1863. Together with a matched Victorian christening set comprising a florally engraved fork, spoon and knife, also in fitted case, spoon and fork hallmarked Elizabeth & John Eaton London 1861, knife Elizabeth Eaton only, London 1858. Gross weight including knife 8.47 ozt (263.3 grams).

All pieces appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some tarnishing and general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. A few dints to the handles of the salt spoons. Some slight rubbing and loss of detail to areas of raised decoration but generally still good. Gilded interiors a little faded. Hallmarks mostly clear and legible with some slight rubbing/distortion.
