Full Lot Description
Wales, Quarter-Ounce Welsh gold sovereign medal 1989, Dragon left, WELSH GOLD 1/4 OZ AUR CYMRU 1989 around, rev. Harp with laurel and oak, daffodil, stylised Welsh maiden, ARGRAFFIAD CYFYNGEDIG (limited mintage) around, numbered on edge 0893, 22mm, 18ct., in Royal Mint case of issue. Extremely fine, scarce. </p>
The gold was mined at Gwynfynydd, near Dolgellau, operative from 1887 to 1998. Although the maximum mintage of this piece was set at 3000 the actual number struck is likely to be much lower. </p>
