Lot Description

A late Victorian gold, diamond and gem-set brooch. The oval ceramic panel, depicting two putti holding a floral garland, with pearl, split pearl and diamond foliate surround. Length 4.5cms. Total weight 17.1gms. Pearls untested.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Ceramic panel has a small chip at the edge near the bottom. General surface scratches and minor nicks, few slightly deeper scratches.

<li>Repairs visible to the reverse of the central panel mount, possible alterations.

<li>Replacement fittings.

<li>Most pearls appear replacements, drilled.

<li>Pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>One pearl with area of significant nacre loss.

<li>Three split pearls deficient.

<li>Diamonds well matched.

<li>Estimated total diamond weight under 0.05ct.<p>
