MAUBOUSSIN - a 1940s 18ct gold diamond and gem-set brooch. The rope-twist foliate spray, with carved sapphire and emerald, ruby and brilliant-cut diamond floral highlights, to the openwork foliate side, gathered to a similarly-cut diamond terminal stem. Signed Mauboussin. Estimated total diamond weight 0.65ct. Length 5.3cms. Weight 20.2gms.

Condition Report
<li>Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Diamonds well matched.
<li>Diamonds bright.<p>
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Diamonds with few small inclusions under 10x magnification. One appears to have a minor chip to one side.
<li>Stones generally in good condition. Some of the rubies appear to have some surface reaching inclusions and associated small cavities. The larger sapphire appears to have a shallow chip to one side.<p>
<li>Majority of rubies are cabochon, two together are faceted.
<li>Metal tests as approximately 18ct gold.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
