Lot Description

Two late George III silver marrow scoops, each of typical double-ended form, the first monogram engraved and hallmarked William Eley, William Fearn & William Chawner, London 1808, the second slightly shorter example hallmarked Solomon Hougham, Solomon Royes & John East Dix,  London 1818. Length of longest 9 inches (23 cm), total weight 3.57 ozt (111 grams).

Both appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some expected tarnishing and general wear with surface marks, scratches and nicks consistent with their age.

Monogrammed example with slightly heavier wear around the tip of the bowl, looks a little thinner, and with residues of stickers verso.

Hallmarks to both clear and legible with light rubbing. Maker's mark on 1818 scoop partly worn.
