Lot Description

A George IV Scottish silver teapot, the compressed circular form decorated with bands of flowers and scrolls, with similar motifs to the spout and hinged lid, and also having a flower finial, with acanthus capped reeded handle and the whole raised on four foliate paw feet. Hallmarked Edinburgh 1824, maker's mark Js.H. Maximum length 11.25" (28.5 cm), gross weight 20.94 ozt (651.4 grams).

Appears with heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.

Displaying general expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. A few minor surface dints.

Rubbed and worn crest to one side below floral band.

Hinged lid with slight sideways movement and some repairs near to the hinge. There remains a couple of small holes in the metal in one area.

Handle also with slight movement and some damage/possible repairs around the fixing pins and ivory insulators.

Appears to be a small area of damage around tip of spout.

Hallmarks located to underside and are clear and legible, minor rubbing.

Part hallmarks to handle but lid appears unmarked.
